When you look up the words "extreme kiteboarding" on Google, the first thing you'll see is a video of Further Futurist Ruben Lenten. The Dutch athlete and founder of Twice As High and LEN10 has traveled the globe on an epic roller coaster ride for the past 15 years to pursue his passion, competing and winning prestigious events including the Red Bull King of Air in 2005. While most people run from storms, Lenten chases them to continue his insane obsession with ascension. Other accolades include snow kiting off a 300 foot cliff, completing a successful kite surf jump over a 130 foot wide pier from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, and more recently battling against cancer. While six rounds of chemotherapy have undoubtedly slowed down the roller coast ride, he continues to gain his strength back with a newfound perspective on life itself.
"This abrupt stop made me realize I don't only have a passion for kiteboarding but a major passion for life in general. It has taught me so much about life, health, love, happiness and myself that it made me realise how epic and easy life really is. It's the little things in life that make us happy. If you can enjoy breathing in fresh oxygen everyday than you're a winner. Everything else is a bonus and shouldn't be too hectic on you and others." - Ruben Lenten
